TechSew 5100SE

I have been producing leather goods for about six years and sewing by hand. I got to the point in my leather making where a sewing machine was needed. I researched several sewing machines and after seeing a video by my favorite leather craftsman (Little King Goods), i made my purchase (February 2023). The 5100SE is a massive machine. Its large, its heavy and it will sew anything you can get underneath the presser foot. I know theres not a one machine does it all, but for me, this is pretty close. For someone that has never used a sewing machine, there was definitely a learning curve. Great machine. So far, Ive sewn as thin as 2oz leather and up to 10oz leather. As far as the company TechSew, I dont believe you will find a better support staff.

Thanks Leo!

Love this machine

I cant say enough about how much I love this 5100. Its just a smooth workhorse that I dont even have to adjust between needle and thread size changes. It seems to always be perfect on tension all the way down to #92 up to #277. This 5100 is the shiznit. I swear it will poke holes in diamonds. after hand stitching for years Im like in heaven. 8 hours of stitching turned into 5. Minutes. Heck I dont have to spend hours poking holes the old fashioned way anymore.

Thanks Randall!

A work horse for my studio

I mainly use 277 and 346 thread and sew a wide range of goods with it, some fairly thick. Still working on using thinner thread, but impressed with the versatility of the 5100. The edge roller and laser guide are great to have. It performs beautifully at any speed, an absolute work horse!

Thanks for your review!

Great machine, great service!

I bought the 5100SE to help stitch bridle collars and leashes. This is my first machine and while the learning curve was more than I thought, once I became familiar with how the machine works it is proving to be a well deserving purchase. I had some issues with my machine from my own setting it up mistakes and the tech team was a big help answering my questions and problem solving the solution. There is a facebook group as well so if this is your first machine dont worry about not knowing what to do youll get the help needed to succeed at sewing. The 5100 is rated as a heavy stitcher and for good reason, but with some new parts, my own custom foot and settings, with a bit of finesse to your technique I am still able to stitch 3-4oz 2 layers with good results. With the right tension you can hide the knot on most thread/needles when paired correctly. The motor is a great feeling and with the needle positioner it makes sewing one stitch at a time very handy. It is very easy to lock the stitch or add back stitch.

If you are looking to sew thicker firmer tempered material, with the occasional medium thickness projects the 5100 will be a great machine for you. If you mainly will sew chrome 5-6 I think the 4800 would be a better suited machine.

Thanks Daniel!
